April brought a variety of opportunities for our team to be involved across the communities we serve. From spending time with local students to supporting community events and giving back through volunteer efforts, it was a month that reflected what matters most to us—strong relationships and local connection.

April 2: Our Wayne team welcomed students from Journey Christian Church Elementary for a hands-on banking experience, where they learned about money, practiced counting, and explored the coin machine and vault.

April 9: EVB sponsored and attended the Norfolk Area Chamber Annual Banquet, celebrating the local business community. The evening included a “Best Decorated Table” win for our Southern Garden–inspired tablescape.

April 11: Team members volunteered at the Mercy Meals Pack Away Hunger event, helping package 35,640 meals for children and families in need around the world.

April 12: Our Wayne team attended the Wayne America Luxury Luau Annual Banquet and was honored to be named Business of the Year, recognizing a decade of growth and community involvement in Wayne.

April 18: The EVB Volunteer Committee spent the day at SMILES Inc., assisting with spring cleanup and yard work in support of their therapeutic horseback riding programs.

April 25: EVB staff attended the Faith Health Pearl Gala in Norfolk, where funds were raised to support patient room improvements at Faith Regional Health Services. Elkhorn Valley Bank was proud to serve as a presenting sponsor.

Staff Updates

April also brought exciting team updates, including the addition of new talent across our markets. We’re pleased to welcome Mitch Heavican as a Credit Analyst in our Norfolk location, Courtney Hanssen as a Mortgage Officer in Yankton, and Kennedy Stowater as a Marketing Officer in Wayne. Each brings unique experiences and perspectives to their role, strengthening our ability to serve customers and support continued growth across our communities.

We also had the opportunity to recognize several team members celebrating five years with EVB. Lynn Peterson, Market President in Yankton, along with Nancy Potts, Loan Administrator, and Heather Klug, Credit Analyst and Loan Support, have each played an important role in building relationships and delivering dependable service to our customers. We’re grateful for the impact they continue to make each day.

We also congratulate Deb Walker on her retirement after 27 years with Elkhorn Valley Bank. Most recently serving as an Administrative Assistant at our 25th Street branch in Norfolk, Deb has been a steady and positive presence for nearly three decades. She has built lasting relationships with both customers and coworkers, taking pride in making each person feel valued and well cared for. Known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and genuine appreciation for her team, Deb leaves behind a meaningful legacy. We thank her for her years of service and wish her all the best in retirement.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to strengthening the communities we serve by building lasting relationships, supporting local initiatives, and delivering trusted financial guidance. April was a meaningful reminder that when we invest in people and work together, we can continue making a positive difference—both now and into the future.
