Community Highlights: A Look Back on EVB’s October

Oct 30, 2025 | 2 Minute Read

October was full of community spirit, educational outreach, and employee engagement across all of our Elkhorn Valley Bank branches. From volunteering to student mentorship and a little fall fun, here’s a look back at how EVB made a difference this month!

October 1: EVB team members had the privilege of volunteering at the Norfolk Rescue Mission, providing desserts and helping serve a meal to those in need. We’re proud to support the Rescue Mission in its work to bring hope and healing to our community.

October 1: Seth Mangels, Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance, shared his career journey and insights with freshman students at Norfolk Public Schools’ Career Academy. He encouraged students to explore their passions, set goals, and dream big.

October 3: Our Wayne team had a fantastic time participating in the Wayne America Taste of Victory Tailgate! Ten local chefs competed in a friendly cooking competition, serving up delicious dishes that raised $1,600 for the Wayne Community Schools Foundation. Thank you to everyone who made it a fun and successful evening!

October 10: The annual Pierce vs. Wayne Tailgate brought together great food, school pride, and generous community support. EVB was proud to match the free-will donations from the crowd, resulting in overall donations of $812 to the Pierce Booster Club and $1,804 to the Wayne Booster Club—a true reflection of community spirit and teamwork.

October 11: EVB team members joined volunteers at the Mercy Meals of Nebraska Pack Away Hunger event, where a total of 113,616 meals were packaged for families in need. We’re grateful to everyone who gave their time to support this incredible effort.

October 11: EVB staff and their families enjoyed a day of fall fun at Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch, thanks to our employee-led Social Committee! It was a beautiful day for spending time together outside of work and celebrating the season.

October 11: Our team had a wonderful evening attending and sponsoring the Norfolk Catholic Gala – Spirit 2025, supporting local education and celebrating the generosity that strengthens our community.

Throughout October: Excitement continued to build around the launch of the Panther Branch, a partnership between Elkhorn Valley Bank & Norfolk Public Schools! After a successful series of school assemblies in September, our team met with fourth-grade students interviewing for student teller positions. These young leaders were trained and assisted with the opening of their school’s Panther Branch, gaining hands-on experience in financial literacy and customer service, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

New Faces: We were thrilled to welcome several new members to the EVB team:

  • Amanda Cruz, Teller at Benjamin Avenue in Norfolk

  • Brady Schaaf, IT Systems Analyst at 25th Street in Norfolk

  • Melvin Delgado, Teller at Omaha Avenue in Norfolk

  • Nancy Schlote, Branch Loan Operations in Pierce

As October comes to a close, we’re thankful for our employees, customers, and community partners who continue to help us make a difference—every day and in every way. We look forward to all that November will bring!
